The Corny Rainbow
The Corny Rainbow
NEFERTITI

Greetings.

My name is Nefertiti, like the famous Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. I am number 4 of 11 children. Yes, I said 11 children! Not common these days to see large families, so you can imagine hand-me-downs and lots of sewing going on growing up.

My mother was the first to introduce me to sewing. For years my mother made prom dresses, draperies, band dance uniforms, and wedding gowns for a variety of different customers. And with all those helpers at home we learned a good bit about sewing. The girls mostly cut out patterns along with all the tedious things she didn’t want to do like turning spaghetti straps right side out and taking apart sofas for reupholstery.

By high school, I made a few items on my own. After high school I put aside sewing. Years later I got married and as newlyweds we moved from Georgia to Virginia with our two dogs.

I had not sewn in years and one Christmas my Mom bought me my 1st sewing machine. I had to learn to sew all over again. I had no idea my passion for sewing until I made my first blazer (my second project with my Christmas gift). I haven’t stop sewing since.

I love bright colors, unicorns, and rainbows. Which is also how my name The Corny Rainbow came about. Give me all the color! I love dressing up for absolutely no reason at all. I’m so DRAMATIC! If you see me in the grocery store wearing a prom dress just say hello...LOL. I also rescue shoes from the store when I’m not shopping for fabric.

I currently work full time for the government in management and I sew at least 1-2 projects a week. I love all things DIY and I love learning and teaching myself new things.

I hope you enjoy my style, creativity, and most importantly the sauce!

Welcome
